Netflix's upcoming season 6 of "Black Mirror" is reinventing itself.

It has returned. This June, Black Mirror Season 6 will premiere, and it will be the most unpredictable ever. The dark, satirical anthology has always had a dash of the unexpected, but Season 6 creator Charlie Brooker tells Tudum that he even shocked himself.

"I've always thought that Black Mirror should present tales that are wholly different from one another and keep shocking viewers — and myself — else what's the point? The writer, creator, and executive producer argued that it should be a series that defies easy categorization and can continually reinvent itself.

So he actually did exactly that. The new season's episodes won't always match your expectations, but that's the whole point. 

I started this season by purposefully upending some of my own core expectations, partly as a challenge, and partially to keep things interesting for both me and the spectator, he says. In order to push the definition of what 'a Black Mirror episode' even is, this episode also includes a few new features in addition to some of the more well-known Black Mirror cliches, some of which I previously swore blind the show would never do. The stories are still still firmly rooted in the Black Mirror tone, but with some wild swings and more variation than ever. 

Both the themes of the episodes and the extensive roster of new Season 6 stars reflect that range. "Bringing it all to life we've got an incredible roster of disgustingly skillful, smart directors working with a cast of actors so talented they frankly have no right to exist," adds Brooker.

Aaron Paul, Anjana Vasan, Annie Murphy, Auden Thornton, David Shields, Himesh Patel, John Hannah, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Monica Dolan, Myha'la Herrold, Paapa Essiedu, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, Samuel Blenkin, and Zazie Beetz are some of those overly talented actors.

Black Mirror's sixth season debuts in June. Brooker enthuses, "I can't wait for people to binge their way through it all and hope they enjoy it — especially the bits they shouldn't."
